The Problem: Legionella

WHAT IS LEGIONELLA? The bacterium Legionella Pneumophila and related bacteria are common in natural water sources such as rivers, lakes and reservoirs, but usually in low numbers. Unfortunately, given the right conditions, Legionella bacteria can thrive in purpose-built water systems in any type of premises. When Legionella bacteria forms small droplets suspended in the air (aerosol or vapour), there is a very high risk of inhalation and the potential contraction of Legionnaires disease

HIGH RISK LEGIONELLA AREAS

Water storage containers, Cooling towers, evaporative condensers, spa pools/Jacuzzis, hot and cold-water systems. Systems that feature outlets like showers are particularly problematic, as water is turned to an aerosol and dispersed into the atmosphere. Vulnerability to Legionnaires’ disease increases with age and pre-existing health issues.

Disinfection Protocol

– Drain your tank and clean inside.
– Spray the inside of the tank with EndoSan3, leave in place for 60mins.
– Re-fill the tank with water.
– Add EndoSan, the dosage depends on the size of the tank (use the EndoSan dosage calculator)
– Use the EndoSan test strips to monitor the levels of EndoSan in the water.

If cleaning the tank is not possible then a shock treatment will be required.

– Fill your tank
– Add EndoSan to shock treatment levels (use the EndoSan calculator)
– Pull dosed water through the pipes
– Monitor the levels with the test strips
– Leave the EndoSan at shock levels in the tank for 8 hrs
– Drain the tank
– Flush through the pipes
– Refill the tank with fresh water
– Add EndoSan maintenance dose
